From its' foundation, Vander Ploeg, Bergakker & Associates (VBA) was established upon the sound principles of outstanding and timely client service. In 1980, John Vander Ploeg decided to open a small accounting firm founded on this uncompromising commitment to client service, quality, and professionalism.
In 1989, backed by his experience and knowledge in business valuation, Denny Bergakker joined the firm. John and Denny worked diligently to build the firm by continually prioritizing the importance of strong client service. Denny became the President of VBA in 2002. Also in 2002, Jim Angell and Tim Clark joined the team. Jim has brought to VBA his expertise in the areas of taxation and small business accounting/consulting while Tim has provided VBA with an additional resource in auditing, succession planning, strategic and tax planning. Sharon Allen joined VBA in 2004 and has added a wealth of knowledge in the areas of closely held business and individual taxation. Today, Denny, Jim, Tim, and Sharon are shareholders and all share the same value of providing excellent and unmatched services to each and every client.
Currently, VBA has 13 total staff members and we all share the same vision and belief in the foundational principles established nearly 32 years ago by John Vander Ploeg. We have been quite successful too. Most of our growth has been achieved through our loyal clients who have referred their family, friends, and business associates to us.
